The Tulip 'Golden Apeldoorn', 'Tulipa darwin hybrid', is a fall planted bulb. The Golden Apeldoorn is one of the most well-known tulips around the world! Its huge flowers grow on sturdy stems and the bright golden-yellow color makes this variety especially attractive. It has a black star on a bronzy green base. It is gorgeous when planted in a large grouping. These tulips bloom in mid spring for a 3 week period. For the best effects, plant the bulbs in clusters of 5 to 15 bulbs of one variety, or scatter clusters throughout the garden or flower border. Tulips do best in well-drained soil. It is advisable not to plant tulips in the same location in the garden year after year. If possible, plant in a somewhat sheltered location.
