Norman Spirea, spiraea japonica 'Norman', is a dwarf and compact spirea with intense rosy pink flowers on a background of mint green foliage. It displays a raspberry-purple to red fall color, lasting approximately one month. It does well in full sun or light shade, and prefers moist, well drained soils. Remove faded flower clusters to promote additional bloom and prune in late winter to early spring. It grows 3 feet tall and as wide. The plant also likes mulch and summer watering. It is effective in the border, cottage garden or as a low, informal hedge. It is attractive to butterflies and has no serious disease or insect problems.
