 Potentilla - Yellow Gem, 'Potentilla fruticosa 'Yellow Gem', displays young twigs that are red, making a nice contrast with its gray-green, lobed leaves. It produces attractive bright yellow buttercup flowers with five ruffled petals. Blooming from May to hard frost, Yellow Gem is a low growing Potentilla that has a spreading habit, making it a good groundcover. Potentillas are great for mass or group plantings, foundation plantings, borders or raised beds. Prune in early spring in order to get a dense, bushy plant with lots of flowers.
